Is Squarespace raising its pricing?
If you've heard people talking about a Squarespace price increase, it's because many customers with USD-billed website subscriptions have started receiving emails informing them of a price increase at their next renewal.
Some of the increases are significant, with annual subscription costs rising by around 20% on certain plans. Unsurprisingly, this has prompted plenty of discussion and questions about what has changed.
For customers whose websites are billed in currencies other than US dollars, the picture is less clear. At the time of writing, Squarespace has not announced any equivalent pricing changes for subscriptions billed in currencies such as GBP, EUR or AUD.
In this article, we'll explain which website plans are affected, when the changes take effect, and what we know so far about the new pricing.

Who is affected?
At the time of writing, Squarespace has only notified the owners and administrators of USD-billed websites by email. They have yet to make a public announcement covering new website subscriptions started after 22 August 2026.
Existing USD subscriptions
The emails advise that price changes will apply to the renewal of:
Current Basic, Core and Plus website plans.
Legacy plans, including Personal and Business website plans.
The new pricing applies from the first renewal that occurs at least 28 days after the account owner receives their notification email. In many cases, this will be 19 August 2026.
New USD subscriptions
Squarespace has not confirmed when the published pricing for new USD website subscriptions will change.
At the time of writing, the pricing page continues to display the current published prices for new subscriptions. Until Squarespace updates its pricing page, or makes a further announcement, the new subscription pricing remains unchanged. It can be viewed at https://www.squarespace.com/pricing
Other billing currencies
Squarespace has not notified customers of any pricing changes for website subscriptions billed in currencies other than USD. That does not necessarily mean those prices will remain unchanged, but no equivalent notifications have been issued at the time of writing.

No. Existing subscriptions move to the new pricing only when they reach their first renewal after the required notice period. In many cases, this will be the next renewal payment after 19 August 2026.
Should I change my website plan?
It will depend on the plan you're currently using and the features your website requires.
For some website owners, moving from a legacy plan to one of the current plans may provide additional functionality. This ie because, when Squarespace introduced its current website plans, it also changed which features were included with each plan. Many features that were previously reserved for higher-tier plans are now included with Core, including:
Unlimited products
Checkout on your own domain
Higher video hosting limits
Donations
Customer accounts
Low stock alerts
Proposals/Invoices
Digital Products (including memberships and paywalls. Business plans require a separate Digital Products add-on subscription, so this can be a major cost saving.
Before changing your subscription, compare the features included in your existing plan with those available on the current plans. If you are on a Business plan, you will typically be better off on a Core plan. If you are on a personal plan, you will typically be better off on a Basic plan. If you're unsure which Squarespace plan is right for your website, it's worth reviewing the available features before making any changes.
