Changes to Additional info section of PDP may break custom code
On 11 March 2026, Squarespace made changes to the way “Additional Info” is added to product detail pages (PDPs), to make them for flexible. Instead of having just one fixed page section that could be edited with the “classic” page editor, it is now possible to:
Add up to 10 Page Sections. You can now have up to 10 page sections below your main PDP product information area, to display additional details, testimonials, or videos
Use the Classic editor (“LayoutEngine”) or the Fluid Engine editor
Customise these sections. Use block animations and distinct backgrounds to make each product feel unique to your brand.
Use Saved Sections. To make your workflow more efficient, you can now save a specific section (like an FAQ or Terms & Conditions) and instantly apply it to other product pages without having to recreate anything manually.
However, the downside is that Squarespace are permanently removing the .ProductItem-additional class used by custom code. This class is being removed on 05 June 2026. If your custom code uses this class, it will stop working. More details can be found in this Squarespace developer document.
